Warm and Healthy Winter at Fresh Start
This fall, we once again will help create a warmer and healthier winter for our friends at Fresh Start Walnut Creek. For the fourth year in a row, Creek Kids have purchased and will deliver tents and sleeping bags for our community members who don’t have homes... READ MORE
Creek Kids in Zimbabwe
It is our great pleasure to be working with the J.F. Kapnek Trust to improve the lives of children in the African country of Zimbabwe. Last year, Creek Kids Care committed to funding one such preschool called Masiyarwa. Creek Kids Care gave $1,500 to the Kapnek Trust... READ MORE

Upcoming Holiday Boutique
Last year, we had such a great time pulling off the Creek Kids Care Gallery. We sold framed CKC art work, stationery and Touchstone magnets. Creek Kids served as chefs, servers, greeters, docents, educators and cashiers. It was a wildly successful event, one that we didn’t dare try to duplicate so soon.
Instead, we are planning a CKC Holiday Boutique where we will sell framed CKC masterpieces for modest prices, along with stationery and magnets. We will also be selling knitted scarves created by CKC moms and friends.
Again, we will rally the kids to cook, serve, play music, educate guests about CKC and the organizations we support and sell our goods. We will be organizing a handful of willing adults to help make it all happen.
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 1st from 1-4 p.m. The boutique will be at Hillside Covenant who has generously donated space. Details to come.
Calling All Knitters!
Except for our momentary heat wave, we have moved into lovely Fall weather... Time to bring out the knitting needles and knit scarves for those without homes and additional scarves to sell at our Holiday Boutique. All proceeds will help to fund our projects at Fresh Start and JF Kapnek.
Last winter, we wrapped over 20 scarves as holiday presents for our friends at Fresh Start. Susan Prather, the director of Fresh Start said the scarves were received with great glee and appreciation. Creek Kids were featured on the front page of the Contra Costa Times last December as we packed the scarves.
There are two ways to participate in Scarves for a Cause:
- Come to a knitting party at Cat’s house on Sunday, October 28th from 2-4 p.m. to start or continue a knitting project and enjoy the company of other knitters. Gab, laugh and learn from other experienced knitters. It’s fun!
- Knit on your own and drop off your beautiful creations on Cat’s doorstep anytime.
The deadline to donate knitted goods is November 25th. Please include your name. Cat will sort those to give to Fresh Start members and those to sell at our boutique. Email or call Cat (coachcat@jps.net or 939-4554) with any questions and to RSVP to the knitting party.
Big Kid Art Party
Usually, the art parties are populated by our younger Creek Kids. Older Creek Kids and interested parents have asked for an art party of their own. We are planning an art party for Creek Kids 5th grade and up and adults at Julie Miles’ house on Friday, October 12th from 4:30-5:30. It will be a fun time to create. No art skills necessary. REALLY!
Cutting art anyone?
We have art reading for cutting if anyone is interested. If you’re handy with a paper cutter and have an hour to spare, we’d love to pass off the recently created art to you. Please email Laura at creekkidscare@sbcglobal.net if you are willing and able. Thank you so much.
