J.F. Kapnek Trust

It is our great pleasure to be working with the J.F. Kapnek Trust!

Directed by the well-loved pediatrician, Dr. Daniel Robbins, the trust has been dedicated to improving the lives of children in the African country of Zimbabwe for many years. Kapnek’s recent work has involved the refurbishment and maintenance of preschools in Zimbabwe in order to care for and educate children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Last year, Creek Kids Care committed to funding one such preschool called Masiyarwa. Creek Kids Care gave $1,500 to the Kapnek Trust which was used to restructure an old dilapidated building and turn it into a safe functional preschool. This year, and for the next five years, we will give the trust between $1,000 and $1,500 to keep the preschool outfitted with school supplies, a hot meal each day for the children, and staffed with two Zimbabwean teachers.

A few months ago, Dan Robbins traveled with his family to Zimbabwe to check on the progress of the preschool program which has been growing by leaps and bounds. Dan carried with him two sets of hand-made alphabet letters to hang in “our” preschool and one other. The kids of Creek Kids Care drew, cut, colored and glued the letters with incredible creativity and care. It was fun to watch them at work on the project.

Currently, the trust is opening a new preschool every three weeks thanks to wide-spread funding from organizations such as UNICEF and support from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Education. Creek Kids Care has been on the ground-level of this project that is expected to be adopted nation-wide in Zimbabwe. Our support of the preschool project has taken Creek Kids Care in an international direction, which together with our local focus on Fresh Start, gives us a well-rounded approach to helping others.
